I fled then as cowards may, Slave yet forsaken, to meander, At mercy of men's torments I bore so one's petty qualms.
The sombre sky chimed with my woe, Ominous – I could discern in the scene's shade But echoes of distress and dim hues of red; My disquiet billowed as the leaves.
